I hope that everyone has been having a wonderful beginning to 2016!
Over here it has been busy! We have been getting the final T’s crossed and i’s dotted to begin the trial. Recruitment has gone very well and we have enough person to begin at least one wave of the trial. We have put in grant proposals into a couple of organizations and we’re waiting to hear back.
Being a first year PhD student, it feels like a shock to the system. As a physiotherapist, a major portion of my studies is to critically appraise the research to get a clinical impression of if we would use the information or if there were any considerations that they didn’t make when designing the research study.
Now that I’m on the other end of the process – it’s difficult! I’ll admit that my strength is in more large concept connections not attention to detail and so all of the intricacies of running a research trial have been really difficult for me to grasp.
That being said – I’m LOVING the challenge. Talking to people I’ve never met. Trying to network with individuals to make new connections. Public speaking.
All of these things are a part of the PhD process and I can’t wait to see the results of the pilot trial.
I will keep you all up-to-date with the outcomes!
